Earning for Learning turns money spent at Colonial Park Mall
into cash prizes for local schools 

Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (August 7, 2007) – Colonial Park Mall officials announced today that, for the second year, the mall will award cash prizes to local area schools this fall. This year, Colonial Park Mall drives its commitment to children’s education through Earning for Learning (formerly known as Tools for Your School), a partnership program designed to promote and support education in local school districts, and will be awarding a total of $10,000. Earning for Learning encourages local residents to shop at Colonial Park Mall over a seven-week promotional period to earn “points,” and ultimately the chance to win cash prizes for the school of their choice.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to support our educational system and offers a simple, unobtrusive fundraising tool for area schools,” commented Mary Williams, Marketing Director.

From August 13 through September 28, each dollar that customers spend can be turned into points for the school of their choice. Shoppers simply redeem their receipts for points at Guest Services in the mall and designate their points to the school of their choice.  

Colonial Park Mall will keep a tally board updated weekly at the mall with a running total of each school’s points. At the end of the contest, the top ten schools will be awarded cash prizes of $3,500 (first place), $2,000 (second place), $1,000 (third place), and $500 (fourth through tenth place). Shoppers have until September 30, 2007 to turn in their receipts.

Last year, over 36,000 points were redeemed for Harrisburg area schools.  Infinity Charter School, last year’s grand prize winner, was awarded $2,750. 

All schools in the Harrisburg area are eligible to participate in the contest and are not required to register ahead of time. Colonial Park Mall encourages residents to show their school spirit by participating in the Earning for Learning program and turn their shopping dollars into money for local schools.
